I got my new issue of Bass Player in the mail today to find a HUGE shock inside... Jason on an ad besides a Sadowsky one... on top of that it was for Dean Markley strings... how about that? I thought he was into LaBellas. If he found something that makes his tone better for him, then cool beans!

then again... I did notice last year in a Piggy/Jason interview that he had black wrapped strings on his A D and G strings and white/light blue on his B and E strings.... just remembered that (that was seen about a year ago... in Guitar Player if I remember right...

Hmm...Interesting....
I have no clue. I know that he's endorsed by Labella and gets free strings from them. It's a good thing too since he changes strings for every gig (at least with metallica he did). He might have switched to Dean Markleys because of the sound he's going for in voivod. A very bright overdriven type sound. Maybe those strings help? I know Blacky used to use fresh new strings every show or two to keep the bass sounding crisp and washed his strings every few sets in the studio.

I'm under suspicion that Jason might Mix and Match the strings.... like how the wraps are different colors on the same bass.... check out some close ups of his five strings sometime
